The Apprentice is the main character of Grow: Song of the Evertree. A young Aerum and the last of the Everheart Alchemists, the Apprentice has stayed behind long after everyone else has abandoned Alaria, the once-thriving city at the base of the Evertree, in order to reconnect with the The Song and push back The Withering.
The Apprentice resides in the Alchemy House found in the Alchemist's Grotto, where they have been guided by their mentors, Book and Coppertop, practically since birth in the ways of Alchemy. After many attempts, the Apprentice has finally disovered the process for making new World Seeds, and seeks to help the Evertree recover, and to restore The Song.
Appearance
Although there are no other racial choices, there are plenty of other customisation options when creating the Apprentice.
Name, voice, body type, gender, skin tone and eye colour are locked in from the point of creation, but all other aspects of the Apprentice's appearance can be modified during the game through various wearable options.

- Note that gender choice in the game only affects starting clothing options and the pronouns used in dialogue text: for those languages that support it, masculine, feminine or gender-neutral pronouns are used when referring to the Apprentice. Gender choice does not affect any Romance options.
