Grow Song of The Evertree Wiki

The Veiled are one of the known races of the Cosmos in Grow: Song of the Evertree. They are uncommon visitors to Alaria, but seem quite eager to move in and help out. The Veiled do not appear to have any special relationship to the Evertree or the Song of Myora.

Veiled are known to appear in at least two genders with very slight physical differences between them. The Veiled, as a monoculture, are extremely secretive about their physical identities. They wear long, bulky robes and use highly decorated wooden masks to obscure their faces. They have no visible hair, and their skin is pure white.

    Curvature of the Veiled legs.

Their legs appear to have mild genu recurvatum compared to normal humans, almost giving the appearance of digitigrade legs, however, their ankles and feet are in the normal position for otherwise plantigrade bipeds. Other than this unusual feature, the Veiled do not have any obvious physical differences from the other Younglings.

    Culture

The Veiled value knowledge, technology, and order, as well as family and cultural traditions. They are governed by a group of Elders who strictly supervise law and order. Despite being curious and outgoing, the Veiled are incredibly protective of their own identities, feeling that to be their most prized possession. Their masks represent their outward identity, being decorated with items of great personal and familial significance. When a Veiled child is born, they are given a gem from their parents' masks. When they come of age, they fashion their own mask. Only familial relatives are allowed to see each other's faces. One of the most serious crimes a Veiled can commit against another is to see a non-relative without their mask on. Veiled who have committed crimes are stripped of their identity by having all decorations removed from their masks. They are then known as Faceless and must spend an unknown amount of time serving penance for their crimes.

There are only a couple of noteworthy Veiled the Apprentice meets during the game.

    • Flora - A Princess of the Veiled who will not appear unless a Temple is built. She and her companion, Aeric, are on pilgrimage, and they have been assigned by their elders to look into the recovery of Alaria, and what happened to cause The Withering.
    • Aeric - A Faceless (his mask has no gems because he committed a crime in the past and is trying to redeem himself).

    Notes

    • Veiled robes are unique and unavailable to wear by the Apprentice or other non-Veiled Younglings. Likewise, the Veiled are unable to wear any other Clothing pieces, despite occasionally making requests for them. The Veiled Leggings were mistakenly made available to Apprentices at game launch, but this error was corrected in the Care and Prosperity Update.
