Flora is one of five Romance option characters in Grow: Song of the Evertree. She has come on pilgrimage to Alaria with her indentured guard, Aeric, who is a Faceless member of the Veiled. Flora comes from a very powerful family, and part of the reason she chose this pilgrimage was to get away from the shadow of her family name. She and Aeric have been friends since they were children, when he accidentally stumbled across her without her mask on, which is considered a terrible crime in Veiled society. Her family took pity on him and indentured him to their daughter as a guard rather than leave him in jail. He has traveled with her ever since, but she still feels very guilty over what happened to him.
Flora will not appear until the first Temple has been built, at which time, both she and Aeric will appear and ask for housing and a job at the Temple. Most of their initial dialogue is together, until the Apprentice chooses one or the other to romance.
Romancing Flora
Romancing Flora is not as hard as Aeric, as the dialogue options always seem to push the Apprentice towards Flora, but the Apprentice still has to make the right choices: being kind towards Flora, asking about her first instead of Aeric, etc. When presented with two quests, always speak to Flora first to ensure the Romance steps. The initial steps of the romance involve Flora thinking of ways to free Aeric from his contract of atonement. After a few days, she comes back and releases Aeric from his contract, restoring the gems to his mask. He asks if he can stay by her side, and she says he's her most treasured friend and she would never ask him to leave. She then thanks the Apprentice for helping her to feel unburdened once again. A few days later Flora invites the Apprentice to join her at the lake near the Nature Reserve in Meadow Quarters, where she expresses thanks for helping her free Aeric, and that she wants to make Alaria her home, but first, she wants to feel the warm rays of the sun upon her face, and for the Apprentice to spend that time with her. The screen goes black and cuts to the next day.
