Grow Song of The Evertree Wiki
    in:

Coppertop is one of the two artificial constructs who act as mentors to the Apprentice through the course of Grow: Song of the Evertree, the other being Book. Coppertop is formed from an enormous golden alembic filled with a cloudy dark blue and green swirling liquid, with faint white lights forming eyes and a mouth with pointed fangs. Coppertop sits in a large nook in the back of Alchemy House in Alchemist's Grotto, and is incapable of movement, although they have considered the possibility of wheels.

Coppertop is the Apprentice's gateway to alchemical processes, allowing the Apprentice to break down almost anything in their inventory into component Essence or to use the Essence they have to craft new World Seeds. The Apprentice can only access Coppertop via the interface in Alchemy House, by walking up to Coppertop and selecting "Interact" then choosing "Alchemy." After unlocking the abilities, the Apprentice can choose either "Extract" to create Essences by breaking objects down into their base components, or "Create Seed" to create a new World Seed.

    Notes

    • Book and Coppertop are the only other members of the Everheart Alchemists guild, but are not alchemists in their own right, being constructs created through alchemy.
    • According to Elderkin, the eldest and wisest of the Everkin, Book and Coppertop were preceded by Scroll and Cauldron, who themselves were preceded by Carving and Jug - who Elderkin found to be down-to-earth characters, what with being made of clay...
    • Coppertop is extremely reticent about whether their consciousness resides in the glass container or the liquid within.
