The Withering is the physical representation of the discord caused by the breaking of the Song of Myora. It is a destructive power in the world of Grow: Song of the Evertree that corrupts the land and consumes everything, even wrapping around the Evertree itself. The Withering appears as enormous brown vines covered in huge purple thorns that appear to be constantly pulsing or growing, while making a terrible grumbling noise as the Apprentice gets closer. Purple embers and a fiery wind appear to blow from the vines, indicating their destructive power.
Increasing Harmony in a District will allow the Apprentice to Sing to the Town's Harmony Stone, and push back The Withering.
The Withering also makes its presence known on Worlds planted from World Seeds crafted by the Apprentice, in the form of detritus -- both stone rubble and wooden debris; corrupted Stinkweeds; Withering grass; Wither-corrupted Insects; and corruption on some of the Critters. The Apprentice must use their Tools to cleanse all of this evidence of discord from the World before it can grow further and eventually bloom.
