The Where-Ever, home to all Everkin

Where-Ever is the small pocket-dimension that is home to all Everkin. Time is frozen on this small, perpetually hazy island under an unseen sun, surrounded by a purple sea, dotted with with strange cubical trees, thick red grass, and mushrooms of various sizes. There are numerous small houses of different styles in a tiny village that is cut through by rivers and a lake. The sky is purple, and in the distance, sometimes obscured by clouds, are huge, broken arches and stone semi-circles. A large stylized statue of an unknown Everkin with a gem embedded in its crown dominates a nearby hill overlooking the village, and smaller versions of that statue can be found scattered about the village. In the center of the village, in the middle of the lake, stands a stone plinth connected to shore by a wooden dock. Atop the plinth are two more small statues of the royal Everkin, and a very tall statue of a similar Everkin in a different style of art.

There are few secrets in Where-Ever, other than a number of chests, one Alchemist's Abandoned Workspace, and some Bumbershooters providing a means of reaching otherwise inaccessible islands, but there are lots of Insects and Fish, so this is an excellent place to harvest those, especially on Festival days. A locked Gold Chest is hidden around the back side of the largest royal Everkin statue, and several other smaller chests are scattered about the island.

Amongst the dozens of Everkin in the village, there are but a few that are named and have specific dialogue, Quests, and may even trade with the Apprentice for specific items.

    List of Everkin in Where-Ever

    • Brokin - Found next to a large boulder. Challenges the Apprentice to break the boulder (this takes 3 swings). Later on, will purchase most Rocks, Fossils, Gemstones, Minerals, and Ores from the Apprentice.
    • Bumpkin - Found standing atop a roll of hay in a field full of similar rolls and also standing Fodder grass. Asks the Apprentice to harvest some fodder. Later on, will purchase Fodder, Flowers, Weeds, and also Flower, Shrub and Tree Town decoration plots.
    • Catcherkin - Found in the middle of a fruit orchard. Asks the Apprentice to capture Insects for them and explains the basics of bug-catching. Later on, will purchase Insects from the Apprentice.
    • Chopkin - Found in a cavern next to a giant pot. Asks the Apprentice to chop down some nearby mushroom Trees. Later on, will purchase Wood from the Apprentice.
    • Elderkin - The oldest and wisest of all Everkin. Found on the plinth in the middle of the lake in the middle of the village. Welcomes the Apprentice and suggests they speak to other Everkin. Provides a new Bug Net and Fishing Rod to go with the Apprentice's other Tools.
    • Fisherkin - Found on the shore of a small lake above the village. Challenges the Apprentice to catch a Fish and explains the basics of Fishing. Later on, will purchase Fish from the Apprentice.
    • Helpful Everkin - standing on a stone near the Portal to the Evertree. This is the same one that was first cavorting near the Alchemy House. They direct the Apprentice to go see Elderkin.
    • Junkin - Found on their property on the far side of the island. Will purchase the Junk that is caught when fishing from glowing pools of light in bodies of water on Worlds and in Caves.
    • Kinderkin - Found standing in front of a house not far from Elderkin. Asks the Apprentice to watch out for hiding Everkids, saying they've escaped from school and might be causing mischief. This is also the name of the Everkin park ranger at each Nature Reserve, and who appears at the Seed Planter of each planted World after it blooms.
    • Seekin - Found just down the path from the Portal to the Evertree. After a certain part of the plot, Seekin turns up to give the Apprentice hints on where to find the next fragment of the Song.
    • Wateringkin - Found in the middle of a field of small melons. Asks the Apprentice to water their melons. Later on, will purchase Fruits and Nuts from the Apprentice.

    Mentioned but not seen

    • Milkin
    • Watermelon-owner-kin

    Notes

    • Although the Apprentice can harvest hay with their sickle, chop mushroom trees with their axe and smash the giant boulder with their mallet, none of these tasks result in resource drops. There is no way to collect any Wood, Stone, Fodder, Fruit or Nuts in Where-Ever.
    • An Alchemist's Abandoned Workspace with a recipe for a Perfect World Seed can be found near the shore quite some distance from the portal to the Evertree.
    • After the Apprentice has advanced the Main Plotline to a certain point (the fourth day), Everkin traders will set up small stands near the portal to the Evertree. At first this will be just two stands selling three randomly-selected Essences each day.
    • Once the Forest Region is freed from the Withering, an additional trade plaza is established near the portal, carrying district decoration and building customization items.
      • This secondary trade plaza uses primarily Myora and Essences as currency instead of Everkoin.
    • Where-Ever is a mandatory part of the plot and the first visit cannot be skipped. The Apprentice will have to return a couple more times to complete other quest tasks, but other than that, the Apprentice need never visit again.
    • The boulder next to Brokin can be broken in three swings, after which it will respawn; however, if the Apprentice stops after two swings, the boulder will have become a statue of an Everkin with a bow and arrow, similar to the Statue item which can be used to decorate Towns.
    • The chance of rain in Where-Ever is 0.0%, but nevertheless it is possible for a rainstorm to occur under the right conditions (see below). Many more images of the rain over Where-Ever can be found here. The dimmer lighting can make it easier to spot the glow of fireflies from a distance. Be warned that this exceedingly-rare weather event does not persist through saving and reloading the game.
