Grow Song of The Evertree Wiki

The Aerum are one of the known races of the Cosmos in Grow: Song of the Evertree. They are the most common race to visit Alaria, and, while they have a naturally broad variety of physical appearance traits, they are the most human-like of all the Younglings. Unlike most other Younglings, the Aerum can hear the Song of Myora and even use it to manipulate the world around them in a process they call Alchemy. They are not native to Alaria, but from somewhere out in the Cosmos. They were explorers, sailing the stars, and they followed the Song in their hearts to to the Evertree, source of all life in the universe, and settled beneath its branches, aided by their new allies, the Everkin in creating the great City of Alaria. When discord struck the Evertree and eventually broke the Song of Myora, almost all of the Aerum fled to the Cosmos to avoid the destruction of The Withering. The Apprentice, the main character of Grow: Song of the Evertree, is an Aerum, and in fact, the last of their kind to stay in Alaria while the rest fled.

To the Evertree, the Aerum are known as the "Children of the Song". To the Everkin, the Everheart Alchemists Guild is specifically known as the Tree-Tenders for their care and consideration of the Evertree. As a result, Elderkin, the oldest and wisest of Everkin, calls the Apprentice "Tree-Tender."

Aerum are known to appear in at least two genders with distinct physical differences between them. A third, genderless option, seems to include elements of the other two. They have a wide variety of hairstyles, several different skin tones and quite a few body shapes. Aerum enjoy wearing clothing and even have different kinds of shops dedicated to crafting and procuring things to wear. They are an industrious folk, but clever with their alchemy talents, unfortunately overusing them and disrupting the Harmony of the Song of Myora.

There are a few noteworthy Aerum the Apprentice meets during the game.

    • Kathleen - the first person to return to Alaria after the Apprentice begins to push back the Withering. An Aerum with long, blonde hair, she serves as a tutorial for Resident management. Unlike the other named Residents, Kathleen can be given items to change her appearance, skills and name, and can even be forced to move out.
    • Arralyn - Another Aerum, and an old friend of the Apprentice, Arralyn arrives a couple of days after Kathleen, wanting to move back to help the Apprentice. Also serves as a potential romantic interest.
    • Oleander - Arralyn's brother, who arrives the day after she does, he, too decides to stay to help - and to keep his sister from getting in trouble with their parents. Oleander is also a romantic interest, but the Apprentice can only become "serious" about either him or his sister, and not both.

There are also some interesting, but inconsequential Aerum visitors that the Apprentice can bump into.

    • Digby Derbyshire - an Aerum with a disturbingly large head, who appears to be hunting for his hat.
    • Evelyn Twitcher - a visiting Aerum who wants to watch the Everkin perform their "Go Away Dance."
    • Java Joe - an Aerum obsessed with coffee and reviewing Cafés.
    • Peridot Pollex - An Aerum who wants to know where the Garden is.
