Grow Song of The Evertree Wiki

This page is for plants that grow in the game. For the NPC, please see Flora (NPC).

    Sunlight through the Evertree's branches

Flora in Grow: Song of the Evertree encompasses any of the plant life found on Alaria or on Worlds crafted by the Apprentice. This Flora can take many different appearances, especially in different Biomes, and nearly all Flora will regenerate if harvested by the Apprentice, though some regenerate more quickly than others.

    Bioluminescent Fungi

Deep in certain Caves, the Apprentice may encounter Bioluminescent Fungi, typically studding an archway between cavern rooms and serving as a useful landmark to help avoid becoming lost. Occasionally Bioluminescent Fungi serve another purpose beyond lighting the way, such as offering clues to solve a nearby Puzzle. This mysterious, glowing form of life may appear in a variety of colors, although yellowish-green is most common. Being from the fungus kingdom of life, Bioluminescent Fungi are, like Mushrooms, not technically plants, but their sedentary lifestyle makes them easily mistaken for true Flora.

    Evertree

The Evertree itself is technically also a plant, albeit one larger than the entire Worlds which nestle in its branches or the vast domain which sprawls outward from its roots.

    Flowers

    Flowers from many different biomes

Flowers are among the first things that tend to grow on any world, taking less time to fully grow than other Resources, usually only two days, or one if the sprout is sung to. They also regenerate rapidly, often appearing the very next day after harvesting. Although flowers generally consist of a single central stem with one or more blossoms at the top, their appearance can vary dramatically from Biome to Biome. When ready to harvest, they can be picked up and then stowed in the Apprentice's backpack. Despite the option to "Place" a held Flower, they cannot be replanted. Flowers can, however, be assigned in Nature Reserves or Town Squares, to alter the Flora in the Reserve or District respectively. Flowers can also be converted to Essence using the Alchemy option with Coppertop. Some Residents may Request Flowers as well. Finally, Flowers can be sold to Bumpkin, the farming Everkin. in Where-Ever.

    Grasses

Groundcover Grass in the Frozen Biome.

Grass is a type of Flora not planted by the Apprentice. Rather, it spawns spontaneously on Worlds as they are tended to. There are two kinds of Grass: the groundcover kind, which cannot be harvested, but simply spreads out from other plants as they are tended and grow, and then the clump type, which grows much taller.

Groundcover Grass varies from World to World based on the Biome(s) present. It can take many shades, and also many different styles, appearing like small rocks or even crystalline structures rather than grass. However, frequently groundcover Grass will have two different types mixed together: a low-level cover with some taller, leafier types rising above. This effect can be rather striking when, as in the Where-Ever, the two parts of the groundcover are very different colours.

    Grass clump on a terrace

Grass clumps always spawn in groups of three, with each clump consisting of several tall blades of greenish brown grass regardless of biome. When harvested — an entire group of three clumps can be harvested with one swing of the Scythe if the Apprentice is positioned correctly — each Grass clump yields one Fodder. This Fodder can be used to fulfill Requests or else be sold to Bumpkin, the farming Everkin. Fodder cannot be converted to Essence. Harvested clumps of Grass tend to regenerate rapidly, often appearing the very next day after harvesting. Rarely, when harvesting Grass, in addition to Fodder, a Grass Seed will drop. These seeds can then be placed in Town Squares, to alter the appearance of the groundcover Grass all over the District, theoretically to look like the groundcover Grass on the World where the Grass Seed originated (although this may not actually be working as intended). Unlike Fodder, Grass Seeds can be converted to Essence via Coppertop.

    Mushrooms

Both Bouncy and Regular Mushrooms together.

Though, like Bioluminescent Fungi, technically not Flora, Mushrooms are a commonly appearing lifeform on many Worlds and around Alaria, but especially in Caves and Vaults. Except for the small subterranean forest of mushroom-like trees in Where-Ever, and the mushroom-shaped Flowers, Shrubs, and Trees found on Fungi-Biome Worlds, Mushrooms cannot be harvested and serve only as scenery, or, in the case of Bouncy Mushrooms, a way to reach otherwise-inaccessible places. Be careful — some Mycela are known to disguise themselves as Mushrooms! Mushrooms come in many shapes and sizes, from ones smaller than the Everkids, to ones taller than the tallest buildings in Alaria. There are even two different Hats to celebrate one's love of Mushrooms.

    Myora Tree

A Myora Tree can typically be spotted from some distance.

A Myora Tree appears on a World once the Apprentice has completed all the tasks both of cleansing that World of The Withering, and tending its vegetation and animal population, and then sings the Song of Myora to the World Seed from which that World grew. This causes the Myora Tree, an ethereal, glowing turquoise tree superficially similar to the Nature Biome type, to appear above the World Seed, its leaves and branches distinct but its trunk composed of shifting, aurora-like curtains of light reminiscent of the heart of the Evertree itself. Myora Trees cannot be interacted with directly by the Apprentice other than by singing them forth to bloom.

    Shrubs

Shrubs are another swiftly-growing plant, usually growing to maturity in only three days, or two if the Apprentice has the opportunity to sing to the growing sprout. When fully grown, Shrubs have a variety of appearances, but generally resemble squat bushes, no taller than the Apprentice. Unlike Flowers and Trees, Shrubs can neither be moved nor chopped down, but they can at least be pushed aside as the Apprentice moves past them.

    A Shrub ready to harvest.

Fully-grown Shrubs provide Nuts, often on the first day of maturity. Each Shrub can produce up to three Nuts each day, but it's random whether any Shrub will have Nuts on that day. Rarer Shrubs are less likely to bear Nuts, and to have more than one or two Nuts each, on a given day. Harvested Nuts can be placed in Nature Reserves or Town Squares, to alter the appearance of the Flora in the Reserve or District respectively — although Shrubs grown in this way will never produce Nuts the Apprentice can harvest. (Everkids assigned to a customised Reserve may harvest Nuts from imported Shrubs, if present.) Nuts are sometimes requested by Residents, but they can also be converted to Essence using the Alchemy option with Coppertop. Finally, Nuts can be sold to Wateringkin, the damp Everkin, in Where-Ever.

*Note: Be careful when harvesting Nuts, as an action tooltip will pop up indicating that the Nut can be smushed with the Mallet, which, while quite satisfying in a destructive sort of way, does not yield any resources.

    Stinkweeds

    Stinkweed

Stinkweeds are a kind of Flora spawned by The Withering, so they will appear before the Apprentice has even begun tending to the World. They are harvested by being pulled from the ground by the Apprentice, and can then be sold to Chopkin, the cooking Everkin, or converted to Essence. Stinkweed is never requested by Residents, so there is never a need to stockpile it.

    Trees

A forest of Trees in the Desert Biome.

Trees are the slowest-growing resource in the game, taking several days to mature fully. They are also the largest Flora, often standing taller than the largest buildings in Alaria, and they have the most dramatic differences in appearance from Biome to Biome, ranging from giant cacti in the Desert (Biome) to enormous mushroom-like trees in the Fungi (Biome) to sparkling columns in Princess (Biome)s — and even some really odd combinations on Worlds with more than one Biome.

    A Tree with two Fruit.

Despite these dramatic differences, after several days of growth, all mature Trees will begin to produce rather similar Fruit, which can be harvested by shaking the Tree. Each mature Tree can produce up to four fruit each day, but it is random whether or not any Tree will have fruit on a particular day. Trees can also be chopped down using the Axe which will force any attached Fruit to fall, but will also yield two to three pieces of Wood as well as several Myora (). Fruit can be sold to Wateringkin, while Wood is sold to Chopkin. Either can be converted to Essence or given to Residents for their Requests. Fruit can be planted in Nature Reserves and Town Squares to alter the appearance of the Flora in the Reserve or District respectively — although Trees grown in this way will never produce Fruit. *Note: Like Nuts, Fruit can be smashed, but this is generally not a problem as most Fruit spawns too high to be hit with the Mallet. Like with Nuts, smashing Fruit also does not yield any resources.

    Withering grass

    Withering grass

Withering grass is another kind of Flora spawned by The Withering, and it often appears before the Apprentice has even begun tending to the World. Withering grass is harvested by the Apprentice using the Sickle but it drops no resource other than 1 or 2 .
