Grow Song of The Evertree Wiki
    The Vault of Warning

The Vault of Warning is the fourth Vault the Apprentice enters in search of lost Fragments of the Song of Myora. Located in the hills south of the Island Locale, it is one of the easiest Vaults to find and get to, as it is even visible from underneath the dock adjacent to the Island Locale's Town Square.

The Vault is composed of a single large chamber partially filled with water and four levels of stone platforms, some of which are rotating or can be rotated, leading to a crypt-like area. Vines of The Withering appear throughout but do not block progress to anything important. In order to proceed through the chamber, the Apprentice must locate buttons to press which raise or lower platforms, and locate keystones to place on pedestals which open doors that create new paths throughout the chamber. Once the Apprentice has reached the top level, they can grab the Fragment of Warning, then exit the Vault.

There are a number of small and medium Stone Coffers scattered about, and even an Everkid hiding on a distant platform. As with all Vaults, time does not pass while inside the Vault, so the Apprentice can take their time to gather all the loot and avoid the Vault sentries. Unlike the situation in most Vaults, however, there is no shortcut out of the Vault of Warning once the Apprentice reaches the Song Fragment.

    WALKTHROUGH (SPOILERS)
To get to the Vault of Warning, go to the bridge southwest of the Island Locale dock, cross the bridge, then take the path that goes up the hill, and the Vault should be easily visible from the bridge.

Once inside, the Vault is fairly straightforward with very few distractions or side paths. From the entrance, go forward to the button and press it to lower the first platform, a cross-shape that gives access to two side paths with small and medium Stone Coffers. After the cutscene that shows the platform lowering, continue forward to the ramp to the next level (grabbing the Chests along the way).

Upon the Apprentice's arrival at the top of the ramp to the second level, a quick cutscene shows where the Keystone and its pedestal are in relation to the Apprentice. Go forward onto the L-shaped rotating platform, then jump off at the next platform to press the button.

Another cutscene will show the cross-shaped platform rising. Time is not frozen during the cutscene, so the platform may have rotated away; wait, if needed, for the platform to rotate around, then jump back on and ride it to the next platform where the green cube-shaped Keystone is waiting. Grab it, jump back on the rotating platform once more and ride around to the next stop.

Run forward and press the button for another cutscene showing a short, straight platform lowering, opening the path to where the green cube pedestal awaits. Placing the Keystone opens the door behind it, which leads to the ramp up to the third level.

The way to the third level is guarded by two pairs of Vault sentries, marching around a couple of small chambers. However, they are fairly easy to avoid, even while grabbing the chests in this area: Simply jump into the middle section as needed to avoid them.

Once the Apprentice is past the Vault sentries and reaches the top of the next ramp, another cutscene shows the location of the yellow cube-shaped Keystone, another button, and the yellow pedestal. Once again, an L-shaped rotating platform features prominently, so move forward to the platform and ride it to the first stop: A straight passage guarded by two Vault sentries that move very close together in their programmed paths, so it's important to squeeze past them when they are at the apogees of their paths (furthest from each other). Remember that the respawn points (which look like a UFO on a staff set into the center of four floor tiles) are always a safe spot to stand.

On the other side of the sentries is the yellow keystone; grab it, turn around and carefully squeeze past the sentries once more to return to the rotating platform. Ride it around to the next platform, jump onto the next respawn point, and wait for a safe moment to squeeze past the one sentry here. The sentry's path does not take it all the way to the button, so that is a safe place to stand and wait for the right moment to move after pressing the button, which raises the short platform from before, opening the path to the pedestal. Once again return to the L-shaped rotating platform, hop on, and ride it to the platform that just raised up, crossing to deposit the Keystone on the pedestal, which opens the door immediately behind it, leading into another small chamber guarded by another pair of Vault sentries. Dodge them, and head up the next ramp, which triggers the final cutscene.

The fourth-level cutscene shows the sentries guarding the level; a button that needs to be pressed; and, all the way across the large chamber, the smaller chamber housing the Fragment of Warning. Once the cutscene is done, wait on the respawn platform for the right moment to go up the ramp to the left. Cross this platform all the way to the rotating platform at the end. Don't be tempted by the Stone Coffers hanging out on top of Withering vines, they can always be grabbed later. Just stay on the platform to the next stop, another long platform guarded by a Vault sentry. Dodge the sentry, run to the end and press the button, which raises the final platform, granting access to the Song Fragment. Jump across the gap using the Bumbershooter for lift, then cross one final series of platforms, dodging one last Sentry before reaching the smaller chamber with the Song Fragment. (Timing note: If this last Vault sentry is at the far end, coming towards the Apprentice, go to the four-way intersection and stand on the left-hand side until the sentry passes. If the sentry is closer than the intersection or is moving away, be patient and follow it to that left-hand-side platform, and wait for it to come back around and pass by.)

Once the Fragment has been claimed — unlike the situation in most Vaults — there is no shortcut out of the Vault. So, go back down the ramp, cross the Sentry-guarded platform once more, then drop down to the first level on the opposite side. If the single Everkid has not been discovered previously, make sure to grab them first, instead. The Everkid is on a dirt platform, directly below and to the right of the bottom of the ramp leading from the Song Fragment chamber.

(Alternatively, this Everkid can also be reached by running along the Withering vine that loops over the platforms on the third level, to the end where the medium Stone Coffer is sitting: Turn to the right and look down to see the green sparkles of the Everkid. Follow the vine down to the 'kid and grab them before heading out of the Vault. From the Everkid's hding spot, it is necessary to backtrack a bit to the second level in order to be able to cross the chamber back over to the Vault entrance on the first level.)
