    Grow Song of The Evertree Wiki

    Chests are reward boxes found throughout Alaria and even on most Worlds. They come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, and some are even locked, requiring special Keys to open. Others must be revealed by clearing debris, solving Puzzles, or placing the correct item in a nearby receptacle. While a few have very specific, static rewards, most Chests contain a random assortment of treasure, from varying amounts of Myora to any other possible item in the game, such as Clothing (including Hair items), Essence, and Tokens.

    Stone Coffers tend to offer the least reward, usually just a few Myora, and an occasional item; they come in two slightly different sizes, the smaller of which can contain up to 3 , or just 2 plus a random item, while the larger can hold 5 or 4 and an item. Brown Chests are less common, but offer somewhat better rewards: 12 and an item. Iron Chests and Gold Chests, whether locked or not, seem to offer slightly rarer items as well as greater quantities of rewards. They can have as much as 21 as well as a nicer item, with Gold chests seeming to have the more rare items.

    Chests can be found in far too many locations to enumerate. Many (mostly Stone Coffers) are found out in the open, or in the passages of Vaults or in some Caves. Sometimes a Chest will be buried under debris on a new World. The rarer, more valuable Chests are generally either locked, or require talented platforming skills, or solving a special Puzzle, such as a sliding-block Puzzle or a shape-matching Puzzle.

    Keys

    Keys are single-use items used to open Chests, and there are two kinds: Iron and Gold, corresponding to the Chests they open. They may randomly be available for purchase at shops or from certain traders. Gold Keys can be purchased for 120 Myora. Iron Keys may be purchased for 60 Myora. Occasionally either may be on sale for 20% off, but there is no indication of these sales other than the price difference. Keys can be purchased:

    • from Florist Shops and General Stores the Apprentice has built (at least one Resident must be working there);
    • from the tent at Festival Grounds (on days when Book informs the Apprentice first thing in the morning that there is a Festival that day);
    • and from Traderkin who operates the Airship shop (which itself only appears on certain Worlds on random game-days).

    Keys also drop from Lucky Boxes and from some non-locked Chests, such as the Chest in a Gnome House.

    Discoveries

    Puzzle-reward Chests do not count towards the Chests total in a World's Discoveries tally, and neither do Chests in Caves or Gnome Houses. Everkid Chests (see below) also are not counted. Only Chests which appear out in the open (including ones under debris the Apprentice smashes with their Mallet) on a World as the Apprentice tends it toward blooming are counted.

    There is no Discoveries tally for Chests found in Alaria's Districts.

    Completion statistics

    Everkids who have been discovered can be hired to collect resources from completed World Seeds or Nature Reserves. After a few days, a Chest will appear and remain there until opened by the Apprentice. Once opened, the Chest will not refill until a few more days have passed. Everkid Chests can appear as Iron Chests, or (on Perfect Seed worlds) as Gold Chests, and, when opened, release 10 items collected from that World.

    Items the Apprentice receives from such Chests do not count toward the Discoveries tally for that World, even if there is an on-screen notification that one (or more) of the items the Everkid collected on the Apprentice's behalf is one the Apprentice had not encountered before.

    Notes

    • There is a chest located inside each Gnome House, but opening it is not sufficient to trigger the Just for Kicks Achievement. Instead, the Apprentice must actually knock things over until the Gnome becomes disgruntled.
