    Grow Song of The Evertree Wiki

    Note: As of January 2022, Grow: Song of the Evertree does not have a minimap feature, only the overview Map discussed in this article.

    The overview Map is used to travel to locations both in Alaria and among the branches of the Evertree.

    The Map is used to navigate both the various Districts of Alaria and the various Worlds planted in the branches of the Evertree. The Apprentice can access the Map by pressing the appropriate key or button (M on keyboard, Up arrow on controller on PC), which will call their mount Kazumi, then fly the Apprentice up to an overview of whichever area they called Kazumi from — either Alaria or the Evertree. From there, the Apprentice can switch between the two halves of the Map by pressing up or down.

    It is also possible to shift the viewable area of each half of the Map from side to side, and up and down (using the usual movement keys, buttons, or joystick), as neither Map fits entirely within the screen, especially later in the game as more areas are unlocked. There is a shortcut key (T on keyboard) which will take the Apprentice directly to Kazumi's perch by Alchemist's Grotto, as well, even from Evertree view, and a Cancel option which will return the Apprentice to where they whistled for Kazumi from. Finally, both Districts and Worlds can be renamed from the Map screen, by placing the cursor over the desired World or District and choosing the appropriate key or button from the bar at the bottom of the screen (R on keyboard).

    Spoilers follow throughout the rest of this article.

    Discoveries

    A Discoveries listing

    Placing the cursor over a District or World in Map view also brings up the Discoveries listing for that District or World. Each District will eventually have listings for Buildings; Residents; Visitors; Quests; Song Fragments; Locations; and Secret Locations (counted separately from Locations). Each World can have listings for Caves*; Flowers; Insects; Fish; Fruit; Nuts; Critters; Puzzles*; Chests*; and Everkids*; but not every World will necessarily have all ten of those elements.

    Elements marked with an asterisk (*) above may or may not appear on a given World, but every World other than those grown from a Strange Seed will always have Flowers, Insects, Fish, Fruit, Nuts, and Critters. Note that some Discovery types do not show up on the Discoveries listing until the Apprentice has found at least one item of that type for that District or World, or, in the case of Worlds, until an expansion of that World brings that element into being.

    Note that Puzzle-reward Chests do not count towards the Chests total in a World's Discoveries tally, and neither do Chests in Caves. Everkid Chests also are not counted. Only Chests which appear out in the open (including ones under debris the Apprentice smashes with their Mallet) on a World as the Apprentice tends it toward blooming are counted. There is no Discoveries tally for Chests found in Alaria's Districts.

    Initially, once the Apprentice leaves their cottage in Alchemist's Grotto, the game is in tutorial mode, and only Alchemist's Grotto (in the lower, Alaria, or View Town half of the Map) and a single Seed Planter (in the upper, Evertree, or View Tree half of the Map) are available as locations. There is no Discoveries listing for Alchemist's Grotto (or Alchemy House, as it appears on the Map).

    After the Apprentice has:

    • visited and returned from Where-Ever (there is not an overview Map for Where-Ever, because Kazumi does not follow the Apprentice through the portal there);
    • tended the World that grew from the World Seed for two days;
    • sung to the Alchemist's Grotto Harmony Stone;
    • and arranged with Builderkin to rebuild the airship dock;

    only then will the Discoveries listing appear on the lower portion of the Map when the cursor is over the icon for Meadow Quarters.

    Alaria Map

    SPOILERS AHEAD
    The Map of Alaria is initially almost completely covered by vines of The Withering. As the Apprentice progresses through the Main Plotline, The Withering is gradually pushed back, revealing the countryside one District at a time.
    On the Map above, there are a variety of icons indicating what type of location is marked and some information about each location.

    - The Alchemy House icon will never display Discoveries progress; this is normal.

    - This District is not yet complete.

    - This District is ready to be sung to (Harmony is 100%). This icon will appear next the District Incomplete icon.

    - This District is complete (100% Harmony, and has been Sung to).

    - The Festival Grounds are open for business (appears on Observance Days only).

    - This icon marks the location of a Nature Reserve.

    Additionally, other icons can appear next to a Nature Reserve's icon, indicating that Reserve's status:

    - This Nature Reserve has space for an Everkid to help collect Resources.
    - The Everkid(s) at this Reserve have collected enough Resources for the Apprentice to pick up.

    When a Nature Reserve has neither icon, this means either that it is fully staffed and still collecting its harvest, or that the Apprentice has no Everkids to assign yet.

    When a number of Districts have been unlocked, some can appear close enough to the bottom or top of the screen to make selecting one difficult; this can be corrected by using the usual movement keys, buttons, or joystick to shift the view of Alaria either up or down. (The view can also be shifted left or right but this is never necessary to reveal a District's icon.)

    Evertree Map

    SPOILERS AHEAD
    The Map of the Evertree is initially limited to a single Seed Planter due to the effects of The Withering. As the Apprentice progresses through the Main Plotline, The Withering is gradually pushed back, allowing more branches, and more Seed Planters, to sprout.
    On the Map above, there are a variety of icons indicating what type of location is marked and some information about each location.

    - This icon indicates a Seed Planter is ready to receive a World Seed. (not shown; see Seed Planter)

    - This World has begun to grow but is not yet complete. (Since the Care and Prosperity Update, incomplete Worlds can be released.)

    - This World is complete (has been Sung to, calling forth its Myora Tree) and can be released.

    Additionally, other icons can appear next to a World's icon, indicating that World's status:

    - There are tending chores yet to do on the current day on this incomplete World.

    - This nearly-complete World is ready to be sung to (all tending tasks complete).

    An incomplete World with no red speech-bubble icon requires at least one more day of tending but all chores for the current day are done.

    - This completed World has space for an Everkid to help collect Resources.

    - The Everkid(s) on this completed World have collected enough Resources for the Apprentice to pick up.

    A completed World with no red speech-bubble icon indicates either that it is fully staffed and still collecting its harvest, or that the Apprentice has no Everkids to assign.

    Finallly, the Discoveries listing for a World will display an icon above the name of the World if it grew from a special type of World Seed:

    - This World was grown from a Perfect Seed.

    - This World was grown from a Strange Seed.

    When a number of Seed Planters have been unlocked, two can sometimes appear close enough together to make selecting one difficult; this can typically be corrected by using the usual movement keys, buttons, or joystick to shift the view of the Evertree either up, down, or to one side.
